In that case, with trailer brakes, the maximum trailer weight is 5,000 pounds. If - I suspect when - Hyundai decides to offer a hybrid Santa Cruz, the extra effort of the electric motor will be even more fun.īoth front-wheel and all-wheel drive powertrains are available, and the AWD is the one you'll want for heavier towing. ![]() ![]() The 2.5-liter turbocharged engine, which produces 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and eight-speed automatic transmission are a great fit for an SAV of this size, able to punch the little truck around twisty roads or just to accelerate to pass on the highway. It's unlike a large truck (duh!) and felt stiffer than a Hyundai Tucson, upon which it is based. The Santa Cruz is an enjoyable vehicle to drive, snappy and relatively light. ![]()
